FLYERS-PENGUINS DUEL TO THE DEATH

Okay, maybe it wasn't a duel to the death, but it easily the craziest moment in the NHL this year.

After being down 2-0, the Flyers scored 5 unanswered goals to go ahead 5-2. After an empty netter from Voracek, and a goal for Pittsburgh, Philadelphia held a commanding 6-3 lead

But things escalated really quickly with 1:08 left in the 3rd when Danny Briere was leveled by PIT's Joe Vitale.

The Flyers players on the ice swarmed Vitale, and an all out brawl ensued.

Wayne Simmonds, who had just taken a puck to the face the day before, began throwing punches with Deryk Engelland.

But things got even more out of hand.

Peter Laviolette jumped up from off the bench and got into a screaming match with Pittsburgh's assistant coach Tony Granato. Both were ejected from the game. Pittsburgh head coach Dan Bylsma said the exchange was triggered by Laviolette breaking a stick on the glass.

Aaron Asham had to be restrained by two referees as he tried to get to Philadelphia's Zac Rinaldo.

Then out of nowhere HULKAMANIA(!) got into the action. Well, it was a look alike, but just as equally weird.

In the end, the penalties looked like this:

PHI Brayden Schenn served by Jaromir Jagr : Unsportsmanlike conduct -- 2 min
18:57 PHI Wayne Simmonds : Fighting (maj) -- 5 min
18:57 PIT Deryk Engelland : Fighting (maj) -- 5 min
18:57 PHI Pavel Kubina : Unsportsmanlike conduct -- 2 min
18:57 PIT Arron Asham : Unsportsmanlike conduct -- 2 min
18:57 PHI Marc-Andre Bourdon : Unsportsmanlike conduct -- 2 min
18:57 PIT Craig Adams : Unsportsmanlike conduct -- 2 min
18:57 PHI Danny Briere : Unsportsmanlike conduct -- 2 min
18:57 PIT Joe Vitale : Unsportsmanlike conduct -- 2 min
18:57 PHI Brayden Schenn : Roughing -- 2 min
18:57 PHI Brayden Schenn : Unsportsmanlike conduct -- 2 min

As this all was going on, all I could think of was the news anchor battle from Anchorman.

I can only imagine the conversation in the locker room:
Claude Giroux: There was Hulk Hogan, and a line brawl, and Laviolette was screaming, and Couturier killed Crosby with a crosscheck.

Peter Laviolette: Sean, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by, lay low for a while because you're probably wanted by Brendan Shanahan.

You can watch the entire brawl here:

Oh yeah, there was still that hockey game they had to finish. Final was 6-4, Flyers over the Penguins. Flyers goals scored by: Simmonds, Talbot, Giroux, Voracek (2), and Marc-Andre Bourdon.
