Flyers Notes

Anything in comparison to yesterday's fight will be small news, but here are some notes from today:

-Flyers announced the signings of Defensemen Matt Mangene and Matt Konan to entry-level contracts.

In 40 games with the University of Maine, Mangene (5-10, 190) scored 16 goals and had 18 assists, totaling 34 points on the year. He will join the Phantoms on a amateur tryout contract.

Konan (6-3, 190) has spent this season playing with the Medicine Red Hats of the WHL. In 72 games with the team, he scored 9 goals and tallied 45 assists.

-The NHL has fined Flyers coach Peter Laviolette $10,000 for his actions in yesterday's clusterfuck.  Pittsburgh coach Tony Granato was fined $2,500.

-Flyers announced that Danny Briere will be out indefinitely with a back contusion suffered after the late hit from Joe Vitale that started the brawl late in yesterday's game. The Flyers also said Nicklas Grossmann will be out 7-10 days with a knee injury. However, both are expected to be back for the start of the playoffs.
