The Phillies rotation just took a massive hit. According to FOXSports Ken Rosenthal, Roy Halladay is out 6-8 weeks with a lat strain in his shoulder.
Philadelphia placed him on the 15-Day DL, retroactive to May 28th. He will be shut down for at least 3 weeks before continuing baseball activities (rehab, minor assignments, etc.).
"Doc" just has not been himself this season, and now it seems for good reason. He is 4-5 with a 3.98 ERA, his worst since 2000.
Halladay has not been on the DL since 2004, in which he spent two stints there with shoulder trouble as well. He finished with an 8-8 record and an ERA of 4.20.
Earlier in the season, SP Cliff Lee went down with an oblique strain.
The starting rotation, which was supposed to carry the load this season, is falling apart bit by bit.
Most likely to replace Halladay is SP Dave Bush, who is in AAA Lehigh Valley. Before signing with the Phillies in 2012, Bush spent 7 seasons in the MLB. He is 4-3 with a 2.61 ERA, and has only allowed 1 run in his last 22 IP.
