The Eagles have found their replacement for Jason Peters.
The Eagles have agreed to a 5 year deal with former Bills LT Demetress Bell. Bell can make up to $35 million on the deal, according to 6ABC's Jeff Skversky
The Eagles pursuit of Bell started after the team has learned Jason Peters ruptured his Achilles tendon.
The Eagles reached out to Demetress Bell, and brought him in for a visit.
Bell left Philadelphia without a contract, but has officially signed today.
Out of all the Free Agent Left Tackles, Bell, 27, was the best fit for the Philadelphia Eagles. He fits very nicely into Howard Mudd's scheme, which requires big and fast linemen to be effective.
Bell started 6 games last season, and all 16 in 2010.
Bell also happens to be the son of Karl Malone. Yes, the former NBA player and Olympian. However, Karl Malone wants nothing to do with his son. The only time they ever spoke, Malone told Bell it was too late for him to be his father. Truly a very sad story.
Nonetheless, Bell is an Eagle and will be a very welcome addition.
Update: Demetrius Bell's first name may be "Demetress". Apparently he legally changed it to Demetress, however on his twitter account he lists his name as Demetrius. Color me confused.
