Eagles Trade For Pro Bowl LB Ryans

The Eagles have finally landed the Linebacker they so desperately have searched for. With Stephen Tulloch and Curtis Lofton commanding too much money, they went a different route instead: trade.

Jay Glazer reporting the Eagles will send a mid round pick to the Houston Texans for two time Pro Bowler DeMeco Ryans.

The former Defensive Rookie Of The Year is 27 years old, and is coming off a season where he had 64 tackles, and 1 forced fumble. In 2010, Ryans only played 6 games before tearing his ACL. The Eagles hope he can continue on the right path, and return to his Pro Bowl form.

The 27 year old is due 12 million over the next two seasons in base salary ($5.9 million in '12).

All in all, a very nice pickup for the Eagles. They finally have a MLB who can hold down the middle of defense. He is much better suited playing in a 4-3, which is what the Eagles run.

The Eagles may still be interested in drafting Boston College LB Luke Kuechly, although they still have holes at DT and Safety.

(UPDATE): Eagles have made it official. Eagles acquire LB DeMeco Ryans from Texans for 4th round pick in the 2012 Draft. The Eagles and Texans also exchange 3rd round picks.

Quite the steal.
