Eagles Free Agency: DL

On The Roster: Jason Babin, Trent Cole, Maurice Fountain, Phillip Hunt, Cullen Jenkins, Mike Patterson, Antonio Dixon, Daryl Tapp, Cedric Thornton,

Key Departures: Victor Abiamiri, Derek Landri, Trevor Laws, Juqua Parker

Abiamiri and Laws are in the same boat. Both second round picks, and both never materialized in the pro. Abiamiri has not played a down since 09, while Laws has failed to produce at all. Another similarity between the two of them? They will both be shown the door.

If anyone in this group of Free Agents is going to get resigned, it will be Landri. For a guy who did not see much action at all during the season, he still managed 2.0 sacks in 12 games. Laws has 4 in his entire career with the Eagles. With spots opening up at DT, Landri would produce if given more of a chance. It will not take much to resign him, and the Eagles should resign him.

It looks like Juqua Parker's tenure with the Eagles has come to an end. His stats have dropped every year, (8 sacks in 09, 6 in 10, 1.5 in 11) and at age 33 he can no longer produce.  The Eagles will thank him for his time with the team, but he is done in Philadelphia.

Top Free Agent DL:
1. Mario WIlliams (HOU)
2. Jason Jones (TEN)
3. John Abraham (ATL)
4. Jeremy Mincey (JAX)
5. Mark Anderson (NE)
6. Kendall Langford (MIA)
7. Red Bryant (SEA)
8. Andre Carter (NE)
9. Aubrayo Franklin (NO)
10. Luis Castillo (SD)

With Jason Babin over 30, and Trent Cole showing wear and tear at age 29, the Eagles need some help at DE. I do not expect them to break the bank on a Mario Williams, however, they will acquire good rotational guys. Kendall Langford of the Dolphins would be an interesting name to keep in mind,  as well as Chicago's Israel Idonije. Idonije and Langford are two very solid linemen that can be obtained reasonably cheap.

The Eagles definitely need help at Defensive Tackle as well. For years, there has been talking of Albert Haynesworth coming to the Eagles. At this point in his career, they would not even think about signing him. The risk outweighs the reward, and the team will look in another direction. One Tackle the Eagles should look at is Amobi Okoye of Chicago. He's only 24, and is coming off a year where he had 4 sacks. Cullen Jenkins needs some help inside, and Okoye would most certainly be able to supply it.
