Flyers Drop Game 3 in OT

Brayden Schenn celebrates his First period goal.

To say Game 2 was demoralizing would be an understatement. The Devils stole one from the Flyers at home, and the series went to Newark with the teams tied at 1-1.

The Flyers needed to come out firing in Game 3, and that is exactly what they did. Brayden scored on a wrister that trickled past Brodeur's short side. It was a Power Play goal, and just the Flyers second of the series.

But the Devils would dominate the rest of the 1st period. Patrik Elias would score on an assist from Marek Zidlicky.

Just 20 seconds later, Ilya Kovalchuk would put the Devils up 2-1.

It seemed as though the Devils had figured out how to play the Flyers. New Jersey attacked the Flyers at the blue line, not allowing them out of their zone.

Philadelphia simply could not adjust, and found themselves in a 2-1 hole going in to the 2nd.

Once again, Peter Laviolette went into the Locker Room, ripped the paint off the wall, and attempted to rally the troops.

As it had all year, it got the Flyers to wake up. On a pass from Jakub Voracek, Matt Carle ripped a one timer past Brodeur, tying the game at 2-2.

Brodeur really struggled to locate the puck, wildly flailing at the air in a sad attempt to stop Carle's shot.

But it would not be a stellar night for either goaltender.

The Flyers continued to step it up on the Offensive end, registering 9 shots to the Devils 2 in the 2nd period.

A Flyers goal would be waived off as the referees though Brayden Schenn at interfered with Brodeur. On replay, it showed Schenn did not touch him.

So the teans would go into the 3rd tied, and the momentum seemed to be shifting towards Philadelphia.

That was until the 7:29 mark.

On a wrap around, Devils Captain shoved the puck between Bryzgalov's legs, and the Devils were up 3-2.

The Flyers needed an answer, and who better than Mr. Playoffs himself, Danny Briere.

James Van Riemsdyk took a shot from the point, and Briere cashed in on the rebound. It was his 50th career Playoff goal, and his 37th with the Flyers.

But the game would head into Overtime. Another Flyers game decided by sudden death.

Another 10 years taken off the end of our life.

Midway through the 2nd, the Flyers were given a Power Play after a questionable Boarding call on Zubrus. The Flyers could not connect on the winner.

The Flyers were given a second Power Play chance on a Delay Of Game penalty. Once again, they could not muster up a game winner, and went 1-5 for the night on Power Play opportunities.

The Devils made them pay.

Alex Ponikarovsky scored the winning goal off a rebound, and the Flyers fell to the Devils 4-3.

Claude Giroux and Jaromir Jagr have been no shows the past two games. Just specualtion, but I believe Jagr is hurting. He seems to be laboring with every stride, and has suffered multiple groin injuries this year.

The two combined for just 3 shots on net. Sean Couturier left the game just 4:30 in after injuring his leg on a tie up on the boards,

A team that was underestimated by all now has a 2-1 series lead on the new Stanley Cup favorites.

Needless to say, Game 4 is a must win for the Flyers.
