According to John Mitchell of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Williams is planning on opting out at the end of the year.
Well Jeff Skversky of 6ABC has heard different, and it came straight from "Sweet Lou" himself.
Whether he has or has not already, I would not be surprised by any means.
Quite frankly, I cannot blame him for wanting to leave either. The Sixers are going to move some key pieces this offseason, and Williams could have been one of them. Considering that Sixers CEO Adam Aron is asking fans to help make personnel decisions, I'd want to get the hell out of there too.
Instead of being traded to a poor team, Lou will be making sure he chooses where he gets to play for at least the 12-13 NBA season.
Also, Williams is due $6.4 million, and that is what he should be making. However, this free agency group is incredibly weak.
I guarantee there is a team in need of a Shooting Guard who will absolutely overpay to get him.
And with an impending Lou Williams move, that would allow the Sixers to take on a little money this offseason. I am not suggesting free agency, but rather via trade.
But as of right now, Williams opting out is all speculation. We will keep you updated on this story.
