Eagles Free Agency: WR/TE

WR On The Roster: Jason Avant, Riley Cooper, Mardy Gilyard, Chad Hall, Jamel Hamler, Desean Jackson, Ronald Johnson, Jeremy Maclin

TE On The Roster: Brett Brackett, Brent Celek, Clay Harbor

Key Departure: WR Steve Smith

The Eagles may have denied it, but Smith was brought in just in case Maclin was not healthy. Maclin turned out to be fine, and Smith never became involved in the offense. Another $2 million paycheck Jeffrey Lurie unhappily hands out. Just like Vince Young and Reggie Brown,  Smith will also be shown the door.

Top Free Agent TE/WR:
1. Vincent Jackson (SD)
2. Marques Colston (NO)
3. Dwayne Bowe (KC)
4. Mike Wallace (PIT) - Restricted
5. Wes Welker (NE)
6. Reggie Wayne (IND)
7. Mario Manningham (NYG)
8. Laurent Robinson (DAL)
9. Brandon Lloyd (STL)
10. Pierre Garcon (IND)

At Tight End, the Free Agent pool is slim, and the Eagles are pretty set. Brent Celek played well down the stretch, and the Eagles will not make an big changes there.

There are two approaches the Eagles can take this offseason when dealing with Wide Recievers:

Plan A: Trade DeSean Jackson
Desean Jackson talked all year about wanting a big raise. He did not play like a guy who deserved one. The Eagles decided to give Jackson the Franchise Tag as they attempt to work out a long term deal. However, the damage may have been done. The Eagles said they are "looking forward to the future" with Jackson, but there is a strong possibility he could be part of a trade in the near future.

If that were to happen, the Eagles should consider drafting Notre Dame WR Michael Floyd with their 1st round pick to compliment Jeremy Maclin. The Eagles should also look into signing New Orleans WR Robert Meachem as their slot receiver. Maclin, Floyd, and Meachem would cause serious problems for any secondary.

Plan B: Work Out Long-Term Contract With Jackson
If the Eagles decide to keep DeSean, they only need to add one piece: Plaxico Burress. Plax is the Red Zone threat the Eagles have needed for the past few years. They have built themselves on speed recently, but now they need the size. Burress has said for the past 2 years he would like to play for the Eagles. Time to make it happen.
